“Faking Literature” and Clue Planting

Tom Keating intentionally planted clues for experts such as profanities and writing “ever been had” or “this is fake” with white lead paint which can be seen if X-rayed (page 173). What other types of clue planting were used in literary hoaxes and are there any cases that involved clue planting that were not immediately discovered?
